As part of my Sabbatical Leave, I decided some time ago to walk the Tasmanian Trail – more or less – Between Deconport and Dover (and maybe on to Cockle Creek). The trail is a multi-use trail and is suitable for horses, moutain bikers and hikers. It is quite a different experience than bushwalking in Tasmania’s amazing National Parks. This particular trail does not touch National Park areas for obvious reasons – {horses and trail bikes}.

Some of the key features are passing through and staying in towns, often being able to cook over a small wood fire, extensive time in forestry plantations and commonly walking on country roads and tracks. Sure the views and environment are not quite the same but it looks to be a wonderful experience in and of itself.

I will tag the blog posts ‘Tasmanian Trail’ if they have specific reference to aspects of the trail.
